Maintenance

Our teams of surveyors, engineers and building inspectors is responsible for routine and planned work, carrying out condition surveys and regular inspections on a wide range of properties including listed buildings, laboratories and state-of-the-art facilities. Reactive work, including emergency repairs, is managed through the Helpdesk.

The Direct Labour Organisation, our in-house team of tradesmen, carries out much of the work itself. All work is supervised by the Building Services team – including electrical and mechanical services – and the Conservation & Buildings team. We also employ specialist contractors where appropriate and in line with preferred supplier agreements

Our remit is governed by the Estates Standing Orders which allocates responsibility for building work between Estates Services and occupying departments.
