Bear Wood is a new project to create an oak dominated woodland on the banks of the River Thames. All of the work has been funded through the generous donations of our permit holders.
The first phase of the project has now been completed. The site has been fenced to keep deer out, and footpaths have been cleared. The second phase commences in November when we start planting trees. These trees will include those grown from acorns by our permit holders, as shown in the image above.
Further work will include the creation of meadows, the erection of insect hotels, and new interpretation boards.
